Talaga namang sikat na sikat na itong magkapatid na Ivana at Mona Alawi dahil sa pagvo-vlog nila, matagal ng nasa showbiz itong si Mona Alawi o maskilalang Mona Louise Rey sa GMA network dahil isa siyang Kapuso child star. Mona started her career in showbusiness playing the title role of Jennifer Montereal in the hit GMA Network family drama that aired for more than a year Munting Heredera. She then portrayed the role of Fatima Salvador, a blind girl with a golden heart who is the offspring of a mortal and a manananggal, in the same network's fantaserye Aso ni San Roque.
Mona Alawi is the youngest of four siblings born to a Filipino mother, the former Fatima Marbella, and a Bahraini father, Samier Al-Alawi. Due to her father's problems, Rey's mother separated from her father when she was pregnant with Mona and went to Manila in 2004. Rey's mother left her three older children with him and would not be returned by their father to her in Manila until 2006.
Rey suffers from Type 1 diabetes, a disease she was diagnosed with in 2011, the year she started her career in showbusiness. She is the only one in her family who suffers from the illness. As a result, she has to maintain a strict daily regimen of insulin self-injections and avoiding foods and drinks rich in sugar and carbohydrates.
Rey and her family are born-again Christians. She also has an older sister who works at ABS-CBN, Ivana Alawi, who auditioned for StarStruck in 2015 as Mariam Al-Alawi. (wiki)
